What a trip….
Wednesday we got up at 2 am and headed for Branson to see my husbands daughters family. They have 3 boys and are on vacation in Branson at a resort. We thought it would be a nice close drive and see her since they are stationed in Grand Island, Ne with the Salvation Army. (It’s super closer and a lot fast feeling drive)
We, (my husband, myself and Buttercup) all hit the van at 4:15 am.
Buttercup, is not officially called potty trained so we made some stops just to make sure there were no accidents in the van, since it’s a work van with just 2 front seats and lots of work stuff in the back so its pretty cramped.
The first stop was a fast food place I won’t name names but it was about 5:30 and the debit card wasn’t up and working yet. I of course exhausted just stood there thinking I don’t comprehend this detail the checker was telling me since this is the electronic age and I didn’t think it happens. I walked out with nothing to get my eyes to focus. NOTHING!! Back to Buttercup- she made it there and no accident. She laid back down till 7am and we guessed it was time for another stop. This time we got are coffee their debit machine was working-Thank goodness! (But, the whole order was wrong)
We let her out and found under Buttercup a very wet quilt. Oh No! Sopping wet. We didn’t think she had even drank that much but on further detective work the water jug I had brought leaked all over. So far so good.
Back in the car past Springfield she popped her head up and started dancing around so we pulled off the highway and tried walking her as the trucks roared by and it was a no go with only about 10 miles till Branson we kept going and we made it. (Maybe we would have saved a month of going to the door every hours just by taking a trip).
She was amazing all day no eaten steering wheel, accidents or chewed shoes while she patiently waited for us. What a great dog.
She met her first kids and she finally figured out they are food on legs and enjoyed eating the food off their faces and hands.
We got back into the van for the return trip home at 6pm and we again stopped when the head popped up, had the air on her to keep her cooled and sleeping. Even with the pitstops we made it home exactly as Mapquest predicted. My husband also cheated by taking the shortcuts through town and almost killed us but as least his time matched the authorities. HAHA
****We weighed her today and she is at 40lbs. Up 10 from a couple of weeks ago. According to her puppy manner training teacher we are looking at about a 90lb Buttercup- You know those cute Daffodils that are slender and has the cutest small flower-Not! We are talking HUGE!
I have a 2 door Honda Civic Coupe and Mike has that 2 seater van I’m thinking how are we going to transport her?
PPS: March 12 3 accidents today so I guess we just need to get back in the groove???? AAHH I’m a bad parent…….
