Restyle Dresser using General Finishes's milk paint color basil & brown mahogany

When it comes to painting furniture you can’t go wrong using a color combo of General Finishes milk paint color basil & brown mahogany gel stain. It adds color to your decor that is easy on the eyes. Just see how this sturdy vintage dresser from a local Salvation Army thrift store was restyled by removing a two drawers, two drawer sliders, and painting the base with 3 coats of Basil. The drawer fronts was cleaned with Belle Craie Surface prep and then General Finishes brown mahogany gel stain was  brushed on with a 2 inch form brush and wiped back lightly with a 5″ inch white applicator pad.  The gel is excellent for going over a existing stained surface that just needs a touch up and this 5″ inch white applicator pad works like a dream.

I sealed this top with General Finishes High Performance Polyurethane. Its Formulated to resist foaming and prevent sags, they won’t run like ordinary water based finishes. Tack free dry time is only 15 minutes. Dry time between coats is 2-4 hours, so you can finish a project in short order. High Performance Polyurethane, HP, contains all the characteristics of a Poly/Acrylic blend, but also a UV stabilizer to protect it from breaking down in sunlight.
